Lovely Layers Poinsettia ~

Hi there!  Since this little mag has been on sale for about a month now, I thought it appropriate to show a card I got published in Paper Crafts Magazine’s special issue Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 8.

You can find out all the details in the magazine that is chock full of ideas!    Here are a couple more that I made with the same concept but were rejects from a previous call.  I simplified it for this call and they picked it up!  Yay!

This one uses the same gold microbeads, some upcycled foil paper from a cookie box (I think) and an acrylic painted leaf piece.  The one below is stamped with the solid images.  I thought the imperfect stamping added to the charm LOL

If you have any questions on these, either leave me a comment or email me.  Have a fabulous day!

Campfire Birthday ~

Hi there!  Thought I’d drop in with a card I made for a friend of my son.  He just turned 6 this past week and had the party yesterday.

wof henry campfire bday detail The theme was Camp Bear – tents, s’mores, a make-your-own trail mix bar and barbeque.  She wins the award for best theme birthday party I’ve attended ever.  It was adorable!  She even made all the attendees ‘Camp Bear’ t-shirts.  I dug through my stamps till I found one that was appropriate for the camping theme – Whiff of Joy Henry Campfire Fun.  He’s colored with Copics – something I haven’t done for entirely too long!  I thought I’d forgotten how.  It was nice to just color for a while and try some new techniques and color combos.

I loosely based the card on this sketch from JUGS challenge #205.  It also falls in line with the Simon Says Stamp Challenge #337 – Animal Antics.

The sentiment is from LID’s Sugar Kissed Cottage Surprise set.  These sentiments are great because they are so small.  This one was masked to stamp the happy above the birthday.  The papers are from October Afternoon Campfire.  I used both the large and small chevron dies from PTI for the center strip.  The stars are both the new Stitched Stars from Lil’ Inker Designs and the Stacking Stars from My Favorite Things.  They work great together!  I finished the inside as well

I love digging through my drawer of extra die cuts and adding that little special something to the inside.  This uses some leftover stars and birthday dies from Papertrey Ink.  I also used the footprints from PTI’s Summer Camp (finally).  Since I used the number die in here, I’ll also link this up to The Pink Elephant’s challenge #215 – Numb3rs.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope your week is set up to be awesome!!

Lil’ Inker Designs September Release Hop Day 3 ~

Welcome back to the September release for Lil’ Inker Designs!!  You should’ve arrived here from Alicia’s blog.  If not, comment here first, and then bop on back to Laura’s blog to get started off right!
Today, I’m showcasing the very cool Stitched Stars!!  I absolutely love these dies!  The greatest thing about these is that they are similar to the Stitched Circles in that both the positive and negative part of the dies has the stitching detail.  Take a look see

You can see on the top turquoise star how I took the smallest star and cut inside the second largest star to create a frame.  There are two stitched lines there.  So fun!  I went a little Stitched Mat Crazy on this card, but I love how they all work together.  The sentiment is from the new Snarky Sentiments set.  I had a hard time putting this on an angle, but sometimes you just have to step outside your comfort zone…in my case, I had to shove myself!  lol

Ok, this is a hop with prizes – two $10 gift certificates to the Lil’ Inker Designs store!  Your next stop is Amy!  Have fun hopping!

Lil’ Inker Designs September Release Hop Day 2 ~

Welcome back to the September release for Lil’ Inker Designs!!  You should’ve arrived here from Alicia’s blog.  If not, comment here first, and then bop on back to Laura’s blog to get started off right!

I’m back today with the fabulous new Starry Sky die.  The greatest thing about this die is that you can easily cut it more than once on a full card front because the die is a full 5.5 inches long!  I chose to use it as just a border die for my card today

I couldn’t quite capture how fun this card is in real life.  The white is a shimmery white and the blue is also shimmery.  The stars on yesterday’s card came from this cut.  The sentiment is from the adorable little Bunny Star set.  I can’t wait to play with this Starry Sky die some more!

Lil’ Inker Designs September Release Hop Day 1 ~

Welcome to the September release for Lil’ Inker Designs!!  We’ve got some super fun goodies to show you in the next few days, and a fun guest is playing along too.  You should’ve arrived here from Alicia’s blog.  If not, comment here first, and then bop on back to Laura’s blog to get started off right!

Today I’m featuring a fun new stamp set and die with a Halloween theme – Bats & Broomsticks.

lid witch

I started cutting a soft stone panel with Stitched Mats: Rectangles and cut some clouds with it while I was at it.  The sentiment is embossed on the bottom of the panel.  Embossing gives that little extra punch and takes no time at all.  I then cut a circle out of regular paper and used the negative to mask out a moon sponging it with distress inks in Scattered Straw and Wild Honey. The witch is cut out in two grays – smokey shadow and basic gray – and layered atop one another.  I love the crosshatch pattern of this little witch!  So cute!  The stars are the negative from the card I’ll be showing you tomorrow using the new Starry Sky die.

This is a hop with prizes – two $10 gift certificates to the Lil’ Inker Designs store!  Your next stop is to Amy for some fabulous eye candy, I am sure!  Have fun hopping and thanks for bopping on by!
