Hi there! Long time, no post…I know. I’ll just quit apologizing at this point! Things have been busy-ish in these parts. Hubby and I decided that taxes this year would be well spent on getting some long overdue new flooring for our home. Seriously, our bedroom carpet and padding was original to the house, circa 1984! Yuck! So this past Wednesday, our entire top floor and stairwell was newly, freshly carpeted. Do you know what kind of work that involves??? How about you imagine moving out of your home! Yes, we’ve lived here for nearly 10 years and the bedrooms have become quite the catch all, especially the craft/tattoo room. Hee, hee! The installer even called on Monday to make sure that I was able to get things out of that room, he was that scared! LOL Add to the move out, I also needed to paint my son’s room – it was two shades of lime green, so I wanted to take the opportunity while we were on the subfloor to paint. Ran into a few snags there, but it all turned out so very lovely! I feel like I have a new house!

This upcoming Wednesday, we will be moving out of the downstairs portion of the house to get new laminate flooring. I really like the look of wood, but 1. it’s too expensive and 2. requires too much up keep. I’ll probably share pics here after it’s all said and done. IDK, we’ve raised 5 puppies and 1 toddler on the carpet, so I don’t know if I want to show off that before nastiness! lol I’m taking this opportunity to complete a much needed deep cleaning at the same time and get rid of things that have been stashed away for entirely too much time. It feels so good!
Ok, so onto my card. When the quatrefoil coverplate die came out from PTI, I just had to make a card with it and submit it for publication…reject #1.

I’m really gravitating towards the CAS style of card making…or trying to at least.

Kraft on kraft, simple score lines above and below the sentiment and a pretty Autumn Rose flower with felt leaves. I loved it at the time, now I look at it and laugh. CAS but way too simple. After it was rejected, I got an email from an old coworker asking for a few birthday cards. Bingo! Now I get to re-do this!
I decided the flower didn’t have enough dimension, so off it came. I used a small stamp from the Mendhi Medallion set to add a little interest to the background. More black was necessary, so I added a mat and embossed the sentiment. The flowers and leaves are die cut, stamped and colored with coordinating Copics. Lastly, I added a little Stickles (fruit punch). I figured I could recreate this fairly easily if necessary, so I submitted this to the next call. Rejected again! Oh well! My friend didn’t reject it! She loved it and hopefully her MIL will love it too! Here are the challenges I’m entering this in:
