PTI Blog Hop: Scallops ~

Hi all!  Just bopping in today with a card I made for Papertrey Ink's February blog hop combined with the current Make It Mondays challenge.

Here's a little about the blog hop:  This month we decided to dedicate the Blog Hop to scallops! We want to see your best use of scallops, of any sort, on a project! This can include scalloped borders, offset-scallops, stamped scallops, scalloped mats, scalloped frames, layered scallops, scalloped tags or anything else you can dream up! You can use dies, patterned scissors or even circle punches in a row to achieve your special look. We are looking forward to seeing all of your amazing creations!
The current Make It Mondays challenge is to use Scor Tape to glitterfy your project.  This is actually one of my favorite techniques for applying glitter!  It just makes your project so fun and sparkly without the mess of glue!

I dreamt of this card for many hours last night...see what I get for looking at my reader right before going to sleep!  In my dream, I got to craft with Nichole Heady!!  She came over to my table as I was working and decided that she needed to add a glittery strip to her card after seeing mine...LOL  One can dream!  ;o)

Nothing new and different with scallops here.  I just used a border punch and added a blue glittery stripe to mimic the strip in the terracotta vase.  I rounded the top corners to somewhat go with the Mat Stack 3 die cut.  The edges of the card and the die cut are distressed with Antique Linen ink.  I completely CASEd a card from a fellow PTI'er, again because I saw it right before heading up to dreamland.  You can see her adorable card here.  Thanks Annie and PTI for the continual inspiration!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  :o) lyss

Carmen ~

Hi all!  I'm bopping in today with the card I made for my husband for Valentine's Day...actually for Lover's Day.  Hubby doesn't like traditional holidays, so we always celebrate the day before and call it Lover's Day.  I chose this sexy image from Kenny K called Carmen Electrafying because hubby has a pic of me kind of like it.
She's printed on PTI white - this is all I use for coloring with Copics.  I really want to try the Copic X press It paper and see if I like it but I'm too cheap to buy it right now.  Has anyone tried the two?  Which do you like better?  Anyway, hubby is kind of a no frills type of guy so I made her the focus of the card.  The upper left corner was a bit bare, so I added a fun die cut from Cuttlebug.  Since it's so hard to glue down, I ran the paper through the Xyron sticker machine before die cutting the embellishment.  I have to remember to do this!  So much easier!!!  Her shades have some clear glaze pen for a little extra shine and dimension.  All the *metal* parts of her outfit (as skimpy as it is!) have silver Spica pen added and are super shimmery.  The dots on her bandana have black Spica.
The inside is stamped with a Happy V Day sentiment that I then modified with a Copic...it turned out a bit messier than I like, but that's how these things go!  It was so very plain, I had to add a row of red hearts and some more of the corner embellishments.  I'll list challenges and supplies.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  ~ lyss

Birthday Lylah ~

Hello!  I'm bopping in tonight with a card I made for the current Mojo Monday sketch.  I'm getting a jump on tomorrow's iCopic color challenge of Pink, White & Brown because I want to get this card in before the deadline.  :o)
This is Lylah from the Lil Lolita line of stamps by Tickled Pink Stamps - I just adore this line!  The challenge at Tickled Pink Stamps is Birthday Wishes, so I used my new set from a great blogging buddy for the sentiment.  It is from Verve's Circular Sayings.  I love the font!  It's so fun...I find myself reaching for this set all the time now!
The DP is from an old Basic Grey line, Blush.  It has a lot of hearts in it - like the little triangle of paper.  Each of the little diamonds on there is actually 4 hearts backed up together.  I'm entering this in a few challenges that call for hearts this week.  That's all I've got today!  I want to get this in before the deadline closes ;o)
Hope you're having a super day!  :o) lyss

Sweet Angel ~

Hi friends!  I'm here today with a card that's been rolling around in my brain for a few weeks now.  It all started with a challenge to color a monochromatic card.  Well, I missed that challenge by a couple weeks, but I'm happy to say that I tackled a technique that I've been wanting to try for quite a while now, so Yay me! lol
This is the nice little angel from the Greeting Farm's Naughty or Nice set.  She's colored in black and white monochromatic tones using all my cool gray Copics and just a little black in her hair.
She's sitting  on a beautiful lacey circle cut with the new Perfect Presentation svg file, Lacey Circles.  The bow is tied in three loops with the Bow Easy - I don't love the little tool, but it's a good $5 purchase. I couldn't have made that bow without it!  The *button* is actually paper.  I punched a heart out, punched out the button holes and covered it with Glossy Accents.  Once it was dry, I tied a little bow with black embroidery floss and added it on top of the red bow with a glue dot.
The inside is finished off with a bit of the embossed and sanded paper, a beautiful scripty font sentiment and a few red hearts to pull the red inside.  Thanks again for stopping by and for all your sweet comments about my *jobs*!  lol  I hope you all have a fantabulous weekend!  :o) lyss

Some Exciting News & Love You Ebony ~

Hi all!  I'm super excited today to tell you that I've made two new design teams!  First off, I made the Christmas Stampin All Year Long challenge blog team {CSAYL}.  Our challenges will begin on Friday, March 4th.  I'm stoked to get to work with this amazing team and to get a jump on my Xmas cards.  I invite you to play along with us, not only for tons of fun, but to get a start on your cards too!

Secondly, I applied for the Deb's Creations design team back in either November or December...I didn't even remember that I had {I found out some unsettling news in the beginning of Dec, so it's been a blur since}.  Deb was out of internet due to the flooding in Australia, so she was unable to communicate with people, view applications, etc.  Well, long story short, she asked if I was still interested.  YES!!!  Have you seen the Emerald Faerie collection??  OMG...so stinkin' cute!  So I decided to play with one of my new stamps, Ebony.  She is darling hugging tight to this mushroom.
After coloring her in with Copics, I prepared a little scene for her on the Perfect Presentation Tall Gable box.  It all began with this pack of textured paper I bought at a craft fair this past summer.  It's embossed with the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder and then sanded with a nail file {I don't have a nifty sanding block, I just use the cheapy nail files you can get at the dollar store}.  I think it kind of looks like it's a blustery day and she's holding tight to not get blown away!  lol  The grass is made with a grass border punch and then sponged with Spring Moss and Memento Pear Tart inks.

Now, I'm going to point you over to the Deb's Creations forum.  I think you have to register as a member, but it's free and very similar to the Paper Craft Planet site, so it's easy to navigate.  Deb has created a challenge for February and March and gives you Ebony to try for free!  The prize is some awesome Copics too!  Here's the link to the challenge.  I hope you'll play along!  Hope you're all having a great week!  :o) lyss

Fave PTI Project from 2010 ~

Morning!  It's cold here in Colorado again...we warmed up to about the mid-40's and are expecting snow again this afternoon.  Perfect for staying indoors and stamping {wink!}

So it's anniversary time again for Papertrey Ink which means lots of prizes, fun and challenges till the previews of the new sets begin.  The challenge for today on Nichole's blog is to pick out our favorite PTI based project from 2010.  Wow...I am a PTI addict, so I had a lot to choose from.  I couldn't pick my absolute favorite, so here are two of my all time favorites.  I'm such a cheater!

I would have to say that my favorite images from any stamp company are floral/nature based.  PTI is no exception!  These use Delightful Dahlia and Year of Flowers: Sweet Peas.  Both projects went to my mom - that way I know someone really enjoys them, and I can look at them again whenever I want!  lol
Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you all have a fantabulous weekend!  :o) lyss

X marks the spot ~

Hi all!  Went a little challenge crazy for this card...it's been a while since I played with any of my Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, so I had to play along with this weeks challenge to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.  Here's a little side story first.  My mom has this amazing service that composts her trash.  Every single piece of trash that can't be recycled is composted for new golf courses, parks, etc.  Well, diapers and such can't be composted but all those cereal boxes and Kleenexes and leftovers from the fridge don't go to the dump anymore!  It's awesome!  Makes me feel like I don't have to save every quarter inch of paper when I'm crafting.  Lol  So anyway, this paper flower was made from some pattern paper scraps that were headed to the composting circular file.  Then I saw this challenge to R,R & R and found an extra button that came with a shirt and called it good on the challenge!  Also, the challenge at JUGS this week is 3D flower embellishments - check!
Little miss Genevieve is stamped on Vintage Cream cardstock to follow along with the Make it Colourful challenge #4 to color on anything but white.  The only problem I ran into is that the whites of her eyes are no longer white...so I colored them with a white gel pen and added her pupil back in with a black glaze pen.  I also gave her some eyelashes with a multiliner cuz I just think these girls need eyelashes - makes them so much cuter!   Her clothing is in the cooler range of colors, so I'm also using this for the Copic Creations challenge #43 - We're cool!
Hope you're having a warm week!!  It was all of -5 here yesterday...I think we're getting up to 0 today!  The low last night was somewhere around -30...so glad we didn't awaken to burst pipes!  Thanks for stopping by!  :o) lyss
