TCIOC...

TCIOC = Two Challenges In One Card

Let me know if you do this too: I surf the internet and find challenges that look interesting or inspire me. I either email them to myself so I don't forget to do them or print them out so I have direct inspiration. Nine times out of ten, I end up not having time (see previous post)! Well, this week, I'm combining those challenges so I can feel accomplished. Yes, this is all that it takes... :o) lol

This morning at 1:15, I woke up with an allergy attack that wouldn't let me sleep. I was awake in bed for over 2 hours scheming up the cards that I could be making instead of trying to sleep, cuz that obviously wasn't working!! All these little ideas in my head were swarming around making sure I wasn't going back to dreamland, so I decided to get up and get my Verve on!! I also *love* this color challenge by Kristina - isn't it just gorgeous?!?! So vibrant! It's Color Challenge #29 - Pacific Point, Taken with Teal, Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White. I chose to make my own background paper with Thankful Blossoms from Verve Stamps. I used the Verve sketch challenge that you can find here, for the new Verve Holiday release. The Pumpkin Pie is in the form of the orange rhinestones scattered in the background and in the center of the cut out flower - both layers of which are up on dimensionals. I got the self adhesive rhinestones in Target's dollar spot a few months ago - I cleared them out - hee, hee! You can't get much better than like 120 different color, different size rhinestones for a buck a pack! Anywho, I think the rest is pretty self explanatory. Oh, the sentiment is a dollar stamp from Michael's that actually said 'love your Smile', but I cut out the 'love your' part and embossed it in white.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you all have a fantastic day!! :o) lyssard

Welcome Baby Girl & Amazing Candy Alerts

I am finally willing to admit that I am a very bad blogger. I spend entirely too much time surfing cyberspace and forget to leave myself time to stamp, let alone blog! Add to that the fact that my darling little PITA has decided that he no longer takes naps when he is home alone with mommy!!! Grrrrummble...anyone have any suggestions??? Anyhow, on to the card...
I did this for a friend who is scheduled to have her little girl on Friday!! I am not much of a cat person (horribly allergic), so little Lulu had yet to see ink. I decided that it was high time and so this creation came about. The base is Rose Red and was cut with my largest, long scallop rectangle Nestabilitie die. I sponged the edges with RR ink to bring out the embossed edge a bit more. Each additional layer was then cut with other Nestabilities, cuz I didn't want to have to figure out the dimensions to cut everything. What's that?? No, not a lazy stamper, just a practical one! (Yeah, right!) :o)
The second layer is Regal Rose; the edges of which are lined with Red line tape and coated with Doodlebug glitter. White layer is run through my little bug with the Swiss Dots Embossing folder (kind of hard to see that detail). Lulu is stamped in Palette Noir and colored with Copics. I did something I never do! WooHoo! I tried something new! I doodled - a little border around the square, some tail flicking motions and on the vellum tag! I'm so proud of myself. It turned out pretty cute, and I was able to cover up the shakier areas with embellishments! The flowers are the bridal confetti flowers from Michael's. I colored them with a mixture of Copics, SU inks and a blender pen. Each one has a little flat backed pearl at the center and Lulu's flower is a pink rhinestone flower (Hero Arts). The ribbon is a white organdy that I actually tied a pretty good bow with too! The inside is finished with a matt of white and a couple more flowers in the lower right corner. I hate to toot my own horn, but I really *love* the way this card turned out. I hope she loves it as much as I do! Now on to the candy...
Bev has some great, great candy including a Whiff of Joy stamp, some crochet flowers (I love these!!), some Primas, and tons of other embellies! Check her out here - she is an amazingly talented artist!
Suzanne has some incredible candy as well - lots of goodies and fun stuff! She even has a Karen Lockhart stamp that has been colored and signed! You can check out her goodies here. She has a very fun and unique style!
Well, have fun surfing! Thanks for stopping by!! :o) lyss
