11 Months...how fast they've gone!

Here's my little guy *helping* his friend Taylor open her presents on her 4th birthday. He has grown up so much in the last 11 months, it just plain amazes me! He is so happy and healthy (>22 pounds!!) and smart and funny and...well, I'm sure you get it. The list goes on and on - what can I say? I'm a proud mommy :)
I needed a quick card for Taylor's party because I couldn't just go to the store and buy one! Oh! The horror!!!! I had a cute little The Cats Pajamas image that I had colored eons ago that needed to be used. I colored it thinking that I would use it for the TCP Tuesday challenge which was to use pink and yellow - if you follow these challenges, you know that this was forever ago! I stamped little miss sassy skirt (that's my affectionate name for the kitty) twice, cut her into a circle with my nesties and went to creating a little scene. Whoops! Made a big boo-boo, so I ended up cutting out the one that I had colored better and putting her up on dimensionals. Dimension is always a good thing! lol I wanted her to be really glamorous so I used my Fiskars gel pens to make her boots and hat sparkly and gave her a really big, pink rhinestone rodeo belt buckle! She is layered onto a Yo Yo Yellow scallop, embossed circle that is up on dimensionals as well. The Cool Caribbean has been embossed through the Cuttlebug with the Textile folder - I have been wanting to use this folder forever and it just screams "Old West". The sentiment is from CC Designs in cool caribbean ink with a spellbinder's ribbon slider die. A little pink gingham and white organdy layered ribbon and I called this card done! If I'd had a bit more time, I would have used some more layers - maybe black matting on the circle and embossed layer to make everything POP a bit more!

Rocket Man

I made this little *Rocket Man* for the Sketch for You to Try on Jen's blog. I took the star a bit literally, but I love my star Nestabilites so very much that I just had to use them again. :) This little Robot guy isn't really a rocket man I guess, but he comes in the Out of This World set by Inque Boutique that has a rocket and the sentiment Blast Off, so I just can't get Rocket Man out of my head! He is stamped with Palette Noir ink on watercolor paper and colored with Going Gray and Soft Sky SU classic inks and an Aquapainter. I used a couple Sakura glaze pens on his eyes, the little electricity squiggly and black dots. He is matted on Soft Sky and Real Red. The DP is Cogsmo by Cosmo Cricket and the glittery stars are from a glitter mat pack I picked up at Hobby Lobby some time ago. They are all popped up on different sizes of dimensionals. The card base is Blue Bayou. I haven't yet figured out if I want to make this a birthday card or just a hello, since it kind of looks like he's waving; so I'll just wait until I have the perfect occasion to finish the inside.
On another note, here is some fabulous blog candy that I won a bit ago from Cyndi Bundy. She has a really fun blog that you should hop on over and check out some time! For some odd reason, the first paragraph of this post is a link to the larger picture of this candy. I can't fix it, which is frustrating, but *deep breath* ahh, there! I'm over it!! :)
Well, thanks for stopping by! Hope you all have a great rest of your day! ~lyss

Moon Rattle

wider than a mile...oh wait! That's Moon River! Ha! :o)
I have had this idea in my head for it seems an eternity. I got it from a certain Sketch for You To Try by Jen del Muro, but I never found the time to get it done. It doesn't follow the sketch at all by the way. A friend of mine is due in September with a darling little boy (I'm sure he will be darling anyway) so I finally made this card. I call it Moon Rattle:
I used Stampin' Up Kraft as the base and ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. The rattle was a bit harder to execute than I had thought it would be. First I glued some PTI Aqua Mist paper to my poor man's 'chipboard' (old cereal boxes, backs of paper pads, whatever!) but found that when I tried to run the Nestabilities circles through, it was too thick! So I had to start with plain 'chipboard' and plain paper and try to get them lined up exactly! That was kind of funny. Next came the dimensional tape (Scotch brand) that I had to adhere to some paper first so that I could cut out the scallopped circle and then the inner circle. Too thick again! Let's just say that I had to get creative! I filled the rattle with some confetti that I found in some odd section in Hobby Lobby. The moon is made from the middle of the scallop circle, then cut again with the same circle to make the quarter moon. I got to use my new star Nestabilities! The bottom of the card looked a little bare so I added a strip of PTI Aqua Mist satin ribbon (my DH's idea). I finished the inside of the card with a strip of Lemon Tart (PTI), more stars and a curvy verse from SU! (The only one I own) in Dark Brown chalk ink. I traced all the stars and the quarter moon with my Spica atyou Clear pen to give them a little bit of *sparkle*.
I hope you like it! I have to go! My DS is screaming at my feet as I quickly type this up :o) Hope you all have a fantastic weekend ~lyss
